Operational planning and budgeting details for a Granville Visitor & Information Center have moved to a collaborative interim task force made up of representatives of the principle stakeholders in the project. The task force was established at the request of Village Council at their February 18 meeting. The task force representatives include village manager Don Holycross, village mayor Melissa Hartfield, township trustee Dan Van Ness, Granville Recreation District trustee Paul Jenks and chamber of commerce board members Drew Bennett and David Getreu. The task force has been focused on detailing operations of the center, staffing, hours of operation, and marketing in addition to fine-tuning the essential budget.
The plan for creating a Granville Visitor & Information Center, originally proposed by the Granville Area Chamber of Commerce, involves the collaborative partnership of the Village of Granville, Granville Township, Denison University, Granville Recreation District, and the chamber. It is a strategy in support of village and township goals to sustain and help grow local business and centralize heritage tourism as identified in the region’s Comprehensive Plan. The proposed center also purports to enhance our quality of life by providing convenient broad-based information and referral for area residents. The interim task force will be submitting recommendations to the partners for review.
